A Holistic Approach to Emotional Healing
Dr. Yanuck helps people suffering from emotional pain using a holistic approach that integrates self-actualization and medical modalities. She is an empathic and intuitive psychotherapist who utilizes a number of techniques, including insight-oriented psychodynamic psychotherapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Somatic Experiencing Therapy, Developmental Needs Meeting Strategy (DNMS), and supportive psychotherapy.
EMDR is a well-researched form of cognitive therapy that is remarkably effective in relieving the distress of past traumas. Somatic Experiencing Therapy is a body awareness approach to overcoming the effects of trauma. DNMS works with parts of self to help the client meet previously unmet childhood needs. Clients learn to release shame and self-criticism so they can lead happier lives.
Dr. Yanuck works with adults and has particular expertise in treating depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, self-esteem problems, eating disorders, stress and trauma, the emotional effects of chronic medical illness, and relationship problems. Her approach includes screening for physical ailments that can cause emotional symptoms, and the conservative use of medications when indicated. Relaxation techniques are taught for the relief of stress and insomnia. Dr. Yanuck is open to and informed about many alternative forms of healing.
Dr. Yanuck has been in practice in Chapel Hill since 1992. Please feel free to call for a consultation or if you have questions.
